What is Arts Volunteering?

Arts Volunteering volunteers fundraise and give grants to arts projects in their local community. In a time of cuts and changes to the national curriculum, this has never been more important to support access to the arts.

The Arts Society aims to contribute to the preservation of our artistic heritage, and believes that our work create a better, healthier and more connected society by enriching peoples’ lives.  As our contribution to The Arts Society’s mission,  our Society has supported The Leeds Library, and Church Recording (St Peter's in Addingham, St Saviour's Leeds).  Our Society is currently working closely with the Development Team of Opera North, and has so far supported two projects for the Opera North Youth Company financially.

"Opera North is very grateful to The Arts Society of Leeds for their generous and continued support, which enables us to continue to deliver an engaging and innovative education programme for young people.

Our Education Team have been hard at work delivering an exciting summer term programme of Youth Company performances, work in schools and engaging online content. However, at Opera North, musical education doesn’t stop for summer. During the school holidays, we have been running a series of activity for young people, such as our Creative Arts Camps and Summer Orchestra Academies."
